4 Year Well-Check

The girls had their well-check in early September.

Okay. Okay.

OKAY!

A little late, but not forgotten! The well-check went well and the girls did great. They also had a hearing test and vision screening. Both passed the hearing test (much to my wonder) and did so-so on the vision screening. Mind you, both thought it was pretty funny holding a spoon-type thing over one eye at a time and Juliana even mentioned she was "like a pirate, Mommy!" But they came out with about 20/40 vision according to the screening. As a result, we will have full eye exams in October to see what they REALLY can see or not see. I'm not too worried and quite frankly, with my vision as bad as it is, I expect them both to have to wear glasses at some point...hopefully not quite yet, but if that is what is to be, so be it. I just thank God they CAN see and if being micro-preemies has done nothing more than left them with so-so vision (um, something I probably did on my own), then hallelujah!

We still have our concerns about Mia's tumor on her spine, but at this point we will continue the wait-and-see approach since it not affecting much at all...that we know of. Still, I do want to know what exactly it is and if it has the potential to cause problems in the future. The question is, when is the right time to do another MRI? And possibly remove it? Now? Later? I really don't know. So, we wait.

And then there were the shots...ugh, the shots. They each had 3...the flu shot and 2 other vax which were actually 1/2 of the shots required for their 5 year vaccinations to enter, GULP, Kindergarten, next year. Otherwise they would have had to have nearly 5 shots next year and trust me people, 3 was traumatic enough. They are more than thrilled to know they won't be getting any of those "for 300 more days, right?"

And now the part you are all waiting for...the stats!

Juliana continues to follow her own little curve below the chart for weight and weighed in at a whopping 28.6 pounds for 4 years old. She is 38 1/4 inches tall and falls in the 16%ile.

Mia has reached the 50-60%ile groups for both weight and height (no wonder, that girl can EAT!). She is now 36.4 pounds and 39 7/8 inches tall.

And that was that! Hoping and praying we can all stay well this cold/flu season and avoid the doctor as much as possible...trust me, they are VERY leery of going back right now.
